Strategic planning, governance reform, renewing the performance evaluation system; senior team development and leadership coaching
APSA is the world's largest association of professional political scientists. Its vision is to promote scholarly understanding of political ideas, norms, behaviors, and institutions to inform public choices about government, governance, and public policy.
Brewster has worked extensively with APSA since 2013. He has supported a full strategic planning process that involved all levels of staff, entailed a review of APSA's vision, mission and overarching goals, and he helped draft the plan, which has been the main driver of APSA's work since it was adopted.
Brewster facilitated a weekend retreat of APSA's Ad-Hoc Committee on Governance Reform, made up of leading political scientists from across the US and contributed to new draft bylaws.
He implemented a review of APSA's staff performance evaluation process and materials. This involved interviews with all staff members, revising or rewriting evaluation forms, and developing a guide for managers on how to apply the process.
Brewster has also advised on senior team structure and a variety of leadership and managerial issues.
