The mission of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) is to establish and help maintain the highest medical, ethical and professional standards for assisted reproductive technology (ART,) in an effort to better serve its member clinics (where patients undergo In Vitro Fertilization - IVF - treatment,) and those patients. Since the agreement of its last strategic plan, in 2013, SART has achieved significant success in delivering its mission: there have been major improvements in the practice of IVF and, as a result of SART's work, a substantive reduction in multiple births and corresponding increase in the number of single babies born, which is the the goal of most couples. Brewster has facilitated an inclusive process through which the 27 members of SART's Executive Council developed their plan for the next five years. The plan is its penultimate draft and will be approved by the Council in September, 2018.
